Niepoort Batuta Tinto 2014

Niepoort Batuta Tinto 2014

92 Points- Andreas Larsson. The Batuta Tinto is one of Portugal’s greatest red wines. The brainchild of Dirk Niepoort, it's predominantly a blend of Malvasía, Rufete, Tinta Amarela, Tinta Roriz, and Touriga Francesa produced from vineyards that are between 70 and 100 years old. Grapes are painstakingly vinified to give a wine that is full of red berry flavours, yet is refined and elegant, before 22 months in oak adds even greater complexity and depth.

Vivino Rating: 4.3 (May 2024)

Wine Press Ratings

92 Points - Andreas Larsson (2014)"

Medium to deep ruby colour with a purple hue. Fine nose, rather discreet and layered with mild spices, floral hints combining red and dark berries. The palate has good density and weight with a soft extraction and grainy fine tannin, fresh red berry fruit, some tobacco notes, modest oak and a long elegant finish. A digest, juicy and fresh style yet with substance." - 92/100, Andreas Larsson

90 Points - Robert Parker (2014)

Taste

Lovely deep ruby colour, the bouquet offers a mix of red and black berries, spring flowers, and spices. Medium-bodied, with a soft, rich feel, red summer berries and smoky tones combine to give a refined, satisfying glassful.

Blend: Malvasía, Rufete, Tinta Amarela, Tinta Roriz, Touriga Francesa.
