Dehesa de los Canonigos Solideo Ribera del Duero Reserva 2019
95 Points - Pedro Ballesteros. Solideo is the reserve wine of Dehesa de los Canónigos. Its name means 'Only before God', also used to designate a silk cap that is usually worn by the Pope. It is made with 85% Tempranillo, 12% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Albillo Mayor and remains in barrels for 24 months, first in American oak of one and two years of age and the last four months in new French oak. From vineyards over 80 years of age, Solideo is a wine that is reserved only for exceptional harvests, and can age for many years to come.

Wine Press Ratings
95 Points - Pedro Ballesteros, Club Oenologique (2019 vintage)
"In Ribera, mostly in the Peñafiel subzone, Cabernet Sauvignon often adds an extra dimension to Tempranillo-based wines. This is a good example of that. The wine gets cassis and blueberry aromas on top of the classic red berry notes. Cabernet's mouthfeel helps to round the oak tannins, giving an overall impression of a classy and deep wine in the mouth – very elegant. One of the best Solideo offerings that I have tasted in recent years. I would bet on a long and positive development. 2024 - 2049"

Tasting Notes
A balsamic wine, with aromatic plant notes such as rosemary and thyme. Black fruit and red fruits in liqueur, such as sour cherries, as well as aromas of dried fruit shells stand on the nose. Good mid-palate, tasty, minty, herbal and very well spiced. Pleasant toasted notes from its aging in barrels, which rearm its complexity. In the aftertaste, black pepper, blackcurrant and cedar aromas stand out. Long on the palate.
About the Producer
Dehesa de los Canónigos is one of the great historical estates of the Ribera del Duero. Located in Pesquera de Duero, its name refers to the first owner, the Council of the Cathedral of Valladolid, composed of 22 canonic monks.
The Dehesa de los Canónigos winery stands out for its architecture, the naves were rebuilt little by little, until housing what is the winery today.
After passing through several hands, in 1931 it fell into the hands of the Cid family, the brothers Arturo and Ildefonso, married to Amalia García and Rosario Alonso respectively, who were the owners of Dehesa de los Canónigos until the 60s, when they sold the farm.
Dehesa de los Canónigos is located in the Duero Valley, halfway between Valbuena and Pesquera de Duero, within the so-called Ribera Golden Mile.
