Taking its name from the Latin for ‘patron’, this is a wine where winemaking is turned not just into an art form, but into an obsession. The tiny harvest goes through an incredibly stringent selection process with only the finest old Malbec vines on the property being considered for use. Once chosen, individual bunches are selected at harvest and then, post-destemming, individual grapes. Following a long, yet cool, fermentation, the Patronus rests in oak for 18 months. Delivered in this stunning presentation case, the resulting wine is as fine a Malbec as you will find. Powerful and full-bodied, it is also elegant, poised, and refined, with the tannins providing background structure and ensuring a long, long life.

Taste
Inky blue-black, the bouquet unfurls gently in the glass, revealing blueberries, blackberries and black cherries, coconut, tobacco and subtle vanilla. Mouth filling from the first, the Patronus isn’t explosive, but like a fine Bordeaux it offers layer upon layer of flavour that builds into an astonishingly complex whole. Blueberries, black cherries, cassis, mint, raspberries, crushed minerals, savoury herbs and creamy bitter chocolate envelope the palate before red berries, dry, firm tannins and a cleansing acidity come in at the finish. Mighty and magnificent with a mellow edge, the De Toren Private Cellar Patronus Malbec is a singular fine wine that is a must-taste for all lovers of serious Malbec wines.
About the Producer
De Toren acquired their first vineyards in 1991 and have redefined the Bordeaux wine concept in South Africa. Their aim was to create an environment where vines produce flawless fruit and then guard these grapes as they are gently steered from vineyard to cellar to bottle. Fastidious about all aspects of production, when it comes to the Book 17 nothing is left to chance, and quality trumps quantity every time so that just 1,200 bottles are produced. This is one of the many reasons why the Book 17 of De Toren Private Cellar has won numerous international awards including ‘South Africa's Best Luxury Wine’ as well as gaining the highest ever score for a South African wine from Wine Enthusiast.

TastingBOX
The TastingBOX is delivered free of charge by UK Royal Mail Tracked 48hr to UK addresses only.
As indicated in our Quality Promise we will happily refund or exchange any faulty bottles. All we ask is the bottles in question are returned to us at least half full for verification purposes. If a bottle is broken on delivery we will also replace or refund it but we do require photographic evidence of the breakage. Equally we can arrange for the bottles to be collected the next time you receive a delivery from us.
Should we be unable to fulfil any part, or all of an order, Perfect Cellar (Beyond the Bottle Ltd) will suggest comparable substitutions. You are free to refuse these suggestions and are eligible for a full refund of relevant parts of the order.
In all instances, Perfect Cellar (Beyond the Bottle Ltd) must be informed of any claim within 24 hours of receipt of delivery by email or telephone. All refunds will be issued after we have received and approved the faulty items and the amount will be re-credited to your account within 30 days. The amount refunded will be equal to the full amount paid for the relevant products at the time of purchase and must be made by the same payment method as the original sale.
If you choose to cancel your contract of sale with Perfect Cellar (Beyond the Bottle Ltd) you may do so within 30 days of receipt of the goods. If the goods have already been dispatched they must be returned to us unopened and undamaged, and Perfect Cellar (Beyond the Bottle Ltd) will not be liable for any costs associated with the original or return delivery.
No refund can be given when a case has left bond as the value will be affected. Individual bottles of Fine Wine will be considered for refund on a case-by-case basis.
