Château Vitallis only made a tiny amount of wine in 2021, but they are ones lovers of white Burgundy should have. The Pouilly-Fuissé ‘Les Vignes du Château’ 2021 is a blend of grapes from Château Vitallis’ historic 13th-century plots. The vines, with an average age of 35 years, are planted on clay-limestone Jurassic soils, and bring richness to their wines. In line with owners Denis and Maxime Dutron’s winemaking philosophy, great care and attention are lavished on the vineyards using organic methods. In the winery, on the other hand, intervention is kept low. Wines are made in stainless steel (70%) and oak barrels (30%) to protect and enhance the wine's taste of place and natural freshness. The resulting wines are concentrated, impeccably balanced and yet remain affordable. For now, at least.

Taste
2021 was one of the most challenging Burgundy vintages in over half a century, with spring frosts dramatically reducing yields. The grapes that survived Nature and Château Vitallis’s sorting table produced a tiny crop of lovely wines. The Pouilly-Fuissé ‘Les Vignes du Château’ is bright, pale gold with a complex nose of hawthorn, acacia blossom and citrus fruits. Softened by time, peaches, apricots, and hazelnut paste have joined the vibrant citrus notes to give a harmonious, tangy mouthful.
About the Producer
Château Vitallis lies at the foot of the iconic Rock of Solutré in Burgundy’s southern commune of Macon. It was built in the thirteenth century and since 1835 it has been owned and run by the Dutron family. Today, the dynamic father and son team of Denis and Maxime Dutron produce an outstanding range of wines from the Mâcon-Vinzelles, Mâcon-Fuissé, Saint-Véran, Pouilly-Fuissé and Pouilly-Fuissé Premier Cru appellations. Their 17 hectares of vines are all planted with Chardonnay and offer wines that are the epitome of elegance and refinement.

The TastingBOX is delivered free of charge by UK Royal Mail Tracked 48hr to UK addresses only.
As indicated in our Quality Promise we will happily refund or exchange any faulty bottles. All we ask is the bottles in question are returned to us at least half full for verification purposes. If a bottle is broken on delivery we will also replace or refund it but we do require photographic evidence of the breakage. Equally we can arrange for the bottles to be collected the next time you receive a delivery from us.
Should we be unable to fulfil any part, or all of an order, Perfect Cellar (Beyond the Bottle Ltd) will suggest comparable substitutions. You are free to refuse these suggestions and are eligible for a full refund of relevant parts of the order.
In all instances, Perfect Cellar (Beyond the Bottle Ltd) must be informed of any claim within 24 hours of receipt of delivery by email or telephone. All refunds will be issued after we have received and approved the faulty items and the amount will be re-credited to your account within 30 days. The amount refunded will be equal to the full amount paid for the relevant products at the time of purchase and must be made by the same payment method as the original sale.
If you choose to cancel your contract of sale with Perfect Cellar (Beyond the Bottle Ltd) you may do so within 30 days of receipt of the goods. If the goods have already been dispatched they must be returned to us unopened and undamaged, and Perfect Cellar (Beyond the Bottle Ltd) will not be liable for any costs associated with the original or return delivery.
No refund can be given when a case has left bond as the value will be affected. Individual bottles of Fine Wine will be considered for refund on a case-by-case basis.
