Gold Medal - Gilbert et Gaillard. Champagne Bonvalet began with a wild dream: to create a Maison de Champagne from scratch. In 2012, Guillaume created his first cuvée, which took two more years of patience to distribute the first 2000 bottles of Champagne Bonvalet. The first cuvée of the House, ‘Epopée’ (meaning journey in French) represents the incredible adventure they are still living today. Blending the three emblematic grape varieties of the Champagne region, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. Epopée is a wonderfully fresh and mineral cuvée with delicate aromas of pear and elderflower and a deep golden hue with a long string of fine bubbles.

About the Producer
Champagne Bonvalet began with a wild dream: to create a Maison de Champagne from scratch. In 2012, Guillaume created his first cuvée which took two more years of patience to distribute the first 2000 bottles of Champagne Bonvalet Brut Suprême. Over the years, Champagne Bonvalet has grown, volumes have increased, and new cuvées have come to light. In 2017, his wife Pauline left her native country, Belgium, and joined the adventure. Today, with their team, they are working to develop the range and image of the house, aiming to combine the best quality with the unique soil expression of their wines.
At Maison Bonvalet, the wines are produced with the utmost care. Meticulous attention is paid to the quality of the grapes, the vinification process, the amount of sulphites, the maturing time in cellars and the dosage of their wines. This to obtain their signature taste, true to its terroir.
Controlled and sustainable production
Wines are made with grapes grown in vineyards certified both HVE (High Environmental Value) and VDC (Sustainable Wine growing in Champagne). These are methods of sustainable development which protect the biodiversity and the local ecosystem, limit the carbon footprint and control the impact on water resources.
94 Points - Gilbert & Gaillard. The Chablis masters at Sylvain Mosnier took full advantage of the excellent 2022 vintage and produced wines that are full of freshness, ripeness, and complexity. Classically styled, their Chablis 2022 has great intensity and energy, with its ample fruit kept in check by the clean, balancing acidity. This is a delight now but it will develop over the next 3 years or so.

"Very precise and focused on the palate. Lots of drive here. Crisp citrus acidity allied to ripe pear fruits. Already drinking well, this will continue to drink nicely over the next two years."
Taste
The lovely bright green-gold body offers a fresh bouquet of citrus, oyster shells and blossoms. The glorious vintage has imparted a little more weight and a little more depth, but the vibrant green apple, lemon, pear and chalky mineral notes are all there in abundance and make for a terrific glass of Chablis.
About the Producer
Sylvain Mosnier is a highly respected, family-owned producer in Chablis. Since 1893 they have crafted a range of exceptional wines that are true to their region’s traditions and their vineyards' character. They own 15 hectares of vines in several well-placed sites, including the Premier Cru Beauroy. Their vines are old by Chablis’ standards being on average over 65 years old and give classic, steely wines of great precision.

92 Points - Wine Enthusiast. Another star of our great value Bordeaux wine list, the Chateau les Vimieres 2021 was awarded 92 points by Wine Enthusiast. The tiny (0.45-hectare) estate is home to seventy-year-old vines that produce minuscule quantities of super-concentrated grapes. Created by Eric Boissenot, consultant to Chateau Latour and Chateau Lafite in the challenging 2021 vintage, it’s rich, velvety, loaded with black fruits and supported by a fine structure. An awful lot of wine for the money, this is your chance to try a superstar wine at a down-to-earth price.

"Enticing aromas of ripe black cherries, dark chocolate and espresso, with hints of roasted meats. An excellent intensity of mouth-filling black fruits, with generous oak displaying vanilla sweetness and a backbone of plush melting tannins. Long and energising."
92 Points - Decanter (2019)
"A cult wine in the Haut-Médoc because it is owned and made by Eric Boissenot, one of Bordeaux's leading wine consultants. Great quality, this is unfussy and balanced, while still being full of concentrated, well-extracted blackberry and blueberry fruits. A firm wall of tannins with enough flexibility to be a medium term drinker. Enjoyable."
About the Producer
Since 1984 Château Les Vimières has been a family run vineyard and is the personal property of the Boissenot family. Jacques Boissenot always kept a low profile, which is amazing considering that he consulted for four of the first growths of Bordeaux over a 50 year period! The property is now run by his son Eric, who has also taken over all consultancy work following a prolonged apprenticeship at his father's side. Jacques and Eric have helped to improve the quality of around 180 different properties in the Medoc, including some of the most prestigious estates. In one of Decanter magazine's articles from 2010, it is noted that "if it got the nod in 1855, you can pretty much rest assured that the Boissenots are playing a part in it today".
92 Points - Luca Maroni. Produced from high-altitude vineyards using hand-picked Corvina Veronese, Rondinella, and Corvinone grapes, the Tenute Ca 'Botta Alta Valpolicella Superiore DOC 2019 is an award-winning, critically acclaimed Italian wine that sets new standards for Valpolicella. The vines’ altitude imbues a lovely freshness and aromatics to the wine which are balanced by it being made in their patented Fermentino Ca'Botta® tank for greater richness of structure and aroma.

90 Points - James Suckling. Malvid, an up-and-coming brand, found itself at a crossroads in 2020. The pandemic and dwindling demand from wineries compelled it to shift its focus from cultivation to crafting its own wine. Already receiving multiple awards for its wines, Malvid's Verdejo exhibits great intensity on the nose, with aromas of tropical fruits and citrus notes perfectly combined with herbal undertones. It is structured and balanced on the palate, offering a fresh and long fruity finish. This outstanding example of Verdejo was recently awarded a hugely impressive 90 Points by James Suckling.

About the Producer
Founded in 1882, Domaine de La Croix is close to the village of La Croix Valmer and the beaches of St. Croix. Tropez. Its area is 1800 acres, of which 1000 are vineyards that go down to the sea. In the 1955 ranking, the winery was designated as Cru Classé de Provence and is the largest Cru Classé vineyard in the area.
Here, the sun-drenched grape varieties benefit from beautiful maritime influences, conducive to their development. The Domaine's three very diverse terroirs, including a little gem called Bastide Blanche right next to the sea, produce grapes of great quality. The soils, differing but predominantly sandy-shale, allow the roots to penetrate deep. This particularity makes the vines less sensitive to lack of water, while promoting complexity and finesse of aromas.
